Whether you’re looking to start a career in healthcare or advance your current knowledge, our comprehensive program prepares you to become a highly-skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant. Our program can be completed in as little as 5-6 months, including the externship. With flexible scheduling options, students can fast-track their education and begin their careers in a short amount of time. In Florida, the demand for Medical Assistants is particularly strong due to the state’s rapidly expanding healthcare industry. This growth translates into excellent job opportunities for graduates, with many positions available in hospitals, physicians’ offices, outpatient clinics, and more.

Guaranteed Externship Placement

Our school guarantees externship placement for all of our Medical Assistant students. South Florida Healthcare Institute is partnered with many hospitals, doctor offices, urgent care centers, and clinics across the state of Florida. We also help graduates who successfully complete our medical assistant program and pass the NHA certificate examination find healthcare jobs in their local communities to start their Medical Assistant careers.

Externship Requirements

To ensure you are fully prepared for your new career, all students must complete 200 clock hours of externship within a healthcare setting that employs Medical Assistants. This externship is a vital part of your training, providing hands-on experience in real-world clinical and administrative environments. Externship placement is guaranteed, and we strive to match each student with one of their top three externship site choices, based on availability and location preferences.

During the externship, students will:

  • Observe and assist with patient care, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for examination, and assisting with minor medical procedures.
  • Practice administrative tasks such as medical billing, coding, scheduling, and maintaining patient records.
  • Interact with medical staff, patients, and healthcare professionals to develop professional communication skills.

That’s why we’ve incorporated SIMTICS simulation modules into our program to offer students access to interactive, simulation-based learning anytime, anywhere. With SIMTICS, students can practice complex procedures and patient interactions in a risk-free environment to help bridge the gap between theory and real-world practice.

This innovative approach empowers our learners to:

  • Build confidence by practicing essential skills in a controlled setting.
  • Master complex procedures before performing them in real clinical settings.
  • Excel in future healthcare careers by improving decision-making and patient care capabilities

The SIMTICS simulations are designed to complement classroom learning, giving students the opportunity to reinforce their knowledge and skills in a hands-on, interactive format. Whether you’re practicing taking blood pressure readings, conducting patient interviews, or learning how to administer medications, SIMTICS prepares you for the challenges of the real world.
